Overview
I treat every client as though they were my only client; so, I am willing to adapt my working practices to suit you. But, as a guide, I always start by coming to see you and discussing your needs. This first meeting commits you to nothing.
Next, I would work with you to put together a house style guide that covers key areas, such as word usage and writing style. This can be done face to face, over the phone or via e-mail, whichever you would prefer. The guide would then become the source for your house style. Issues that fall outside your house style would be resolved in line with current British usage. And, if needed, the guide would be updated over time.
Some detail
With the house style guide in place, I would note errors and mark proposed changes so you don’t have to. On-screen copy-editing is done in Word, so you can easily review and accept, reject or query proposed changes. And once you have reviewed, I am quick to explain any amendments should you need. Changes to PDF proofs can be marked up on screen or hard copy, and both can be returned by e-mail or courier. Printer’s proofs can be marked up and returned by courier too.
And the outcome
It’s an efficient process that will save your time and improve your written corporate communications.
